Cardinal Motel, 1996 – 4815 S Las Vegas Blvd
“This guy seemed pleased that I asked him to back up his 57 Chevy convertible next to this old sign for a photograph. ‘Do you want to give me your mailing address so I can send you a copy of the photo?’ He smiled and said nah, then proceeded to do a massive burnout from the sign to the street, and gave the same treatment to the asphalt out on the LV strip. I was so hypnotized after it was over I looked down at my hands. There was a camera loaded with film. ‘Why didn’t you take a picture of that!?’ This is the Strip back in the summer of 1996. Looks like I caught this magical moment just in time according to Vintage Las Vegas. Built in ‘52, the Cardinal Motel was demolished a year after this photo.” - Kenny, My Acme Garage
